point the moderate position would consolidate into one. His hope was to gain sufficient support prior to that and convince the party that his position was the popular choice. It isn’t working that way and he won’t attempt a third party run. That doesn’t mean his supporters will back another candidate anymore than they did in 2016, but that remains to be seen.
