An endorsement is a statement of support, an encouragement to others to join you in that support. When editors of a publication endorse a candidate, it is statement of support - that THIS is the person who in their opinion is the best choice to do the job, the one they would like to see in the job.


It isn't a bet that THIS person is the one they think will win.

My endorsement of Bill Bradley - as was my endorsement of Mayor Pete - was just that. These are weird times. Like most Americans and most voters however I have long had affection for Joe Biden - likely why if he earns the shot - he will beat Donald Trump.
