Doonesbury fame, I believe, who was relating to the interviewer that very early on he had been predicting that Trump would win.
He said that although he was a liberal and didn't want Trump to win, he recognized the very effective marketing methods Trump was using from his own days in the business world. Those included using short, easily remembered phrases and words over and over to hammer the points home subconsciously.
He wasn't too popular in California with his predictions, but he was apparently spot on.
Fwiw, I was pulling for Trump in his debates with Hillary, but I didn't like the way he seemed to simplify things and repeat some of those phrases over & over. There are a lot of marketing gimmicks I don't like, but they must work because a lot of high powered marketing companies love to use them.
