of the 2 video links you provided.

So as I understand it, one link is from a game around January 18 where Sophie charges down the court with the ball and collides with another player near the free throw line as she is attempting a shot (no foul called on the defender although there probably should have been). Play continues as her teammates are running back up the court to get back on defense, but Sophie takes out her frustration (gee we never ever saw her do that here did we lol), by retaliating in anger, plants herself sideways and absolutely levels the opponent bringing the ball up the court. A blatantly dirty, unsportsmanlike action, for which she is called for a foul. Setting a screen is a valid basketball play. Planting yourself sideways, sharp shoulders towards the other players face, instead of planting yourself facing the player, is not.

So there is bad blood there obviously.

Then there is the other link which everyone in this thread is talking about (why no discussion of the first link which shows a blatantly dirty play by Sophie I wonder), which is from a game a month later, around February 23, where there is another altercation. Totally agree with people on that that the other player provoked it by walking towards Sophie with both elbows raised, making some kind of contact with her, provoking Sophie to cuff her in the face.

I loved the heck out of seeing Sophie play here for 4 years. But she’s no angel. She knows only one way to play BB and it is a rough, physical, roller derby type style which she never deviated from. And yes on occasion she made dirty plays. No question. Mizzou fans loved her, other teams and coaches not so much. It seems like more than half her fouls here were silly, angry retaliation fouls after she felt she had been wronged. And she spent a good amount of time on the bench in foul trouble, every minute of which was a win for the other team.

She is what she is. A lighting rod for other teams with her rough, aggressive play. Neither video clip surprised me at all. We’ve seen both types of plays before.
