A. Husband makes $60K and wife 40K who have saved all their life for kid’s school (paid cash), retirement, took on extra jobs to have money for down payment on two rentals homes, drove old cars and now at 55 years old have net worth of $1.8 million ($1.2 in 401K, $200K investments, $500K real estate)
B. Next 55 year old couple Husband makes $120K, wife $140K living in San Francisco they live in the upper stories of an old home with $3000+/month rent payments. They only have one car but can barely keep up with their bills. They have $300K in 401Ks but little other savings. Their kids have loans for college
C. Last couple 55 years old the Husband makes $300K per year, wife doesn’t work, they save nothing and have less than $120K in retirement, after taking home equity loans out for trips they have equity in their home of $70K and are upside-down on one of their two cars. Their kids have loans for college. $30K credit card debt Total Net Worth = $160K
