any traditional media source who trades in classified or confidential information given to them? are they all bad guys too?
If you believe Assange helped hack information then more power to you I guess. But I'm not sure I see him as anything more than a purveyor of information gathered by others.
the allegation is that Manning asked him if he had experience in cracking "hashes". JA told Manning that he had so-called "rainbow tables" that might assist in that. These rainbow tables are not something ubiquitous to JA. Manning sent him the hash and it's unknown if JA ever actually broke it. But it's not alleged in his indictment that he actually broke it.
interesting to see what will happen. Is offering to break the code, but not actually breaking it, illegal?
