I know nothing about him as a coach or whether he’s an offensive innovator, a defensive specialist, or just a guy who gets his players to execute perfectly in traditional schemes.
Whatever the case, my guess is he’s being brought in specifically to help develop game plans.
Analysts play a relatively small role in recruiting. I’m sure they can help evaluate film and plan visits, but they aren’t able to directly contact recruits. And Arkansas isn’t a recruiting hot bed where I expect he has relationships with a ton of talented players. This is more likely a case of a brilliant football guy taking a job where he can put that mind to use and leave all the roster management stuff aside and just focus on the game.
