In the real world a police force must have equal and ideally greater force than the Criminal elements they encounter on a daily bases. So yes to keep the Peace our Police have to be armed,trained and more forceful than the criminals they protect us from.

This is clearly common sense...I do respect your pie in the sky utopia fantasy's but they have no grounding in the reality of the real world and run counter to human Nature.
