After #12 Tennessee finished off #23 Arizona State last night in a game delayed from Monday, the first weekend is finally in the books with the SEC going 45-15 overall, and 7-5 against teams currently ranked in the top 25. This week and weekend the schedules get even tougher, with SEC teams playing 18 more games against top 25 teams. They include:
#19 Missouri taking on #14 Minnesota, #16 Ok State, and #20 James Madison
#9 Alabama facing #1 Washington, #3 UCLA, and #16 Ok State
#15 Georgia facing #3 UCLA, #17 Texas Tech, and #21 Northwestern
#18 SC facing #1 Washington, #17 Texas Tech, and #20 James Madison
#7 LSU facing #13 ULL twice
#10 Kentucky facing #23 Arizona St twice
#12 Tennessee facing #6 Texas
Unranked Ole Miss facing #6 Texas
Lots of opportunities for SEC teams to make a statement. Or not, in the case of Alabama. Facing powerhouses Washington and UCLA, after going 1-3 the first weekend, could be a really rough start for them if their vaunted pitching staff doesn’t show up. They could easily be sitting at 4-5 or 3-6 by next Monday morning.
