Almost everyone knew the Senate would not convict. Seeing the republicans give their willfully blind support for abuse of Presidential powers might tip the scale in favor of a democrat. Add to that the likelihood that post-impeachment Trump will be even more unhinged that usual, and you have quite a 2020 campaign season. The democrats biggest challenge seems to be finding a moderate that can appeal to the progressive base. Bernie vs Trump would be something to see! Biden vs Trump would most likely be decided by a pushup contest or sandlot brawl. Warren vs Trump, somebody gets scalped. Bloomberg could make himself the business friendly environmentalist and win it all. November is up for grabs. The impeachment and acquittal does little to change that.
