unapologetically and irrefutably very hostile questioner for each candidate.

Imagine mark levin asking pointed questions of bernice anders.
Imagine anderson cooper asking questions of donald trump.

The question can be provocative, deep, personal or professional. Or they can be rude, crude and socially unacceptable.
The candidate can decline to answer and the voters can decide if the question was unfair or if the candidate was afraid.

Seriously, if there is no pretext or pretense of impartiality, the debates could be very revealing. Of the questioner and the candidate.
