only that an investigation be publicly "announced", not that an investigation be conducted properly or concluded, AND given that the request was limited only to his political rival,
it's pretty clear to me that the request was BS and an abuse of power whose purpose was not to root out actual corruption, but to cause public damage to his rival through extortion of a foreign country, which was not in the interest of the US.
