since Trump took office.
That's undoubtedly larger than in most states, but numerous states have passed much more restrictive abortion laws since then and Trump has been appointing numerous conservative judges and changing the landscape in a big way.
Recent changes in Missouri law:
RESTRICTIONS ON ABORTION
In Missouri, the following restrictions on abortion were in effect as of January 1, 2020:
Abortion would be banned if Roe v. Wade were overturned.
A patient must receive state-directed counseling that includes information designed to discourage the patient from having an abortion, and then wait 72 hours before the procedure is provided. Counseling must be provided in person and must take place before the waiting period begins, thereby necessitating two trips to the facility.
Private insurance policies cover abortion only in cases of life endangerment, unless individuals purchase an optional rider at an additional cost.
Health plans offered in the state’s health exchange under the Affordable Care Act can only cover abortion in cases of life endangerment.
Abortion is covered in insurance policies for public employees only in cases of life endangerment.
The use of telemedicine to administer medication abortion is prohibited.
The parent of a minor must consent before an abortion is provided.
Public funding is available for abortion only in cases of life endangerment, rape or incest.
An abortion may be performed at or after viability only in cases of life endangerment or severely compromised health.
The state prohibits abortions performed for the purpose of race or sex selection, or in response to genetic anomaly.
The state requires abortion clinics to meet unnecessary and burdensome standards related to their physical plant, equipment and staffing. Abortion providers are also required to have admitting privileges at a local hospital.
