that our governmental model of a representative republic exists by the consent of the governed, and that it and our Constitution are truly the best the world has ever seen. We believe it rooted in securing the individual’s life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We tell each other that we are free and that our government honors and respects our rights, even if we disagree with a law.
But let me ask you this: if I do not have a right to steal from
someone, and if I can’t give that right to another, then where and how did the government get this right? If I do not have a right to kill someone and I can’t give that right to another, then where and how did government get this right?
What is the evidence for the legitimacy behind government’s laws? What is the evidence that you are a citizen, that you are bound and subjected to its laws simply by existing and occupying a certain place in space and time?
