Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) late Wednesday reported sales of $17.04 billion for December, a 10.5% increase over sales of $15.42 billion in the year-ago period. Same-store sales rose 9%, Costco said. The later-than-usual Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday dates helped the month's total and comparable-store sales by about 1%, the company said. Shares of Costco were flat in the extended session, after ending the regular trading day up 1.2%.
