but wrong to take out the guy leading him into battle?

Military leaders are valid tactical targets.

Political leaders are valid tactical targets

Civilian assists used to support a war effort are valid tactical targets.

The modern rules we try to apply to military actions are silly. Why do we think civilian lives are somehow more valuable than those of the fighters. In most cases the fighters are not really given an option to join the fight or not.
