But yes, you don't go start a war to prevent a war. It's basic and fundamental.
And if you are attacked, you don't politely ask them to stop. You repel the attack with the necessary force. Defense is justified.

Zero.

I would wait until there was an imminent threat before doing something, obviously. I'm not going to travel ten thousand miles and kill some people to repel an attack on my family ten thousand miles back home. That doesn't make sense, and it's not justified.
