in communist countries the State outlawed religion, wanting itself to replace and be god. It’s no different anywhere.

And the beginnings of government were strongly tied to the warrior priests and cosmology. They were inseparable. The State has its sacred texts, its high priests, its prophets, its martyrs, its sacred and venerated objects, its rituals, its sites of pilgrimage, etc.
