to the information we've heard.
He only had 1 offer. Mizzou. The rest were Div I-AA (FCS) schools. So he had no choice really.
He came to Mizzou this weekend as a running back and was happy and tweeted he was signing and life as good. He was hanging with the new Mizzou recruits and his future friends and teammates.
At home, he had 4 other high school teammates all signing official schollies with big schools too. They were all going to do so televised with a big pep rally from the school.
On Monday, he gets a call from Coach Drinkowitz. I doubt Drink pulled his offer. That would be kinda cruel to do so right after a visit. But I can definitely see him saying they might want to move him to LB and can't make any promises regarding RB.
Not sure what they told him, but it was the right move to give him whatever heads up they gave. It allows you to either open that scholarship up to another player that is more P5 ready. Or you can move him to a position he might have better success at. It also gives the recruit a chance to digest it all.
Within 48 hours he got in touch with Odom and Arkansas gave him an offer.
Good move... but I wonder why he didn't wait till February where he might be able to find an even better program.
Well, I think he knows he's not a P5 player. He's not getting any other offers. Spots are filling up. And so he was smart to reach out to the only coaches in the nation that offered him of Div. IA offer.
His immaturity took over. And their feeling of being scorned is understandable. They made some bad moves, but totally understand.
It's harmless in the long run. Just glad he was smart and found a soft landing at a P5 school.
And he got to enjoy signing day with his HS pals as planned.
