Arkansas is worse than terrible and Odom isn't going to make

the program better, in any way shape or form. And yet, he's probably going to be their next head coach.
He isn't a good recruiter, so they aren't getting any advantages there. He was lousy in the state of Missouri especially... so please take him and his entire staff if you want. They couldn't get kids interested in the home state school, they aren't getting anyone interested in winless Arkansas.
These last 4 seasons have been Mizzou's worst 4 season stretch since 2001-04. Big difference is the further we got from Larry Smith, the better the Mizzou program was getting in every area of the program - from recruiting, to discipline, development, and compete level. And now, the further away from Pinkel we get, the worse the program is getting in every area.
According to CFB Reference, Odom had the easiest Strength of Schedule of any coach in Mizzou history going back 80 years through Don Faurot. And he was a horrendous 13-19 in conference. Then lives off cupcakes and horrendous SEC programs like Arkansas and Vandy. Imagine if we had to play any other program as our crossover rival in the west every year? Odom's record surely wouldn't have been even .500. It would have been, at best, (23-27, 11-21)... and that's being nice and giving him the benefit of the doubt that he would have split with another SEC west program.
He went 4-8 in the 2016 with one of, and maybe the easiest schedule in school history. He went 6-6 in 2019 with another awful schedule.
Now, he goes to the West, with a worse program and talent and facing schedules that are 2-3 times harder, at least.
Sam Pittman will be fired after 2 years or less.
Odom will likely be gone too, as is usual when the head coach loses their job. But there is outside chance, with Arkansas being so g-dam bad, and not having any money, they will just promote Odom to head coach.
