Under comment n law the facts determine the amount of the buy out. I.e. time remaining on contract x salary less salary at new job.
Odom’s was negotiated and part of his contract. In those cases the buy out is usually reduced from it’s potential maxim, but the quid pro pro is there’s no reduction for future earnings.
Haven’t seen anything to indicate if the latter is the case in Odom’s contract, but would be surprised if it wasn’t.
