My dad used to say, "I don't vote for a party; I vote for a man." Several decades ago, I didn't agree with it, but it certainly was more pragmatic back then, because representatives were more likely actually to represent their constituents rather than conform rigidly with their party. Today, The Left, especially, is not tolerant of defections, and likely to cannibalize their own. Pelosi may give her blessing to a certain number of candidates to defect on the vote, but will the Squad do the same? It will be interesting to see. If a district voted for a moderate, I'm not sure how well a primary opponent backed by AOC would do. However, it would be a drain on resources and a fight a candidate would not want.
Voting for Dem's who will be moderate is more of a token action, because when push comes to shove, the net result is the enabling of a push toward Socialism. As I said, the choices tend to be more obviously binary these days. I suspect that many of them will not win reelection.
