As a veteran of military service (are you?) I know that the soldiers and sailors that fought for the Confederacy were Patriots, they fought for their states. At the the time of the civil war (the war between the states, the war of northern aggression, what ever you prefer) it was THESE United States and the southern states no longer felt United to the northern states.
Almost to a man those that label Confederate soldiers as traitors are know nothings and never serveders
