They never cared if this was bipartisan or not. Nancy and the Dem leadership took to impeachment because they realized that there was no one currently running who could defeat Trump next November.
This is a Hail Mary that was never intended to remove him from office. The plan was to attempt to tarnish him so that they got enough independents to move to their camp to elect their woeful candidate in '20.
So far it has failed miserably. It is only seen as a positive in blue state that were never actually in play. Polls show that it is having a negative impact in the swing states that the Dems will need to defeat Trump. If it goes to the Senate where the GOP will have narrative control it will only get worse for the Dems.
