They are appeasing their hard left base and they are feeling happy "sticking it" to Trump. Well, they already have their hard left base. They will crawl through glass to vote against Trump. And to do this to feel good is simply giving in to bitterness.
They have now done two remarkably stupid things. They have whipped up remarkable support for Trump among the GOP. Also, they are making Trump a sympathetic figure to moderate voters who simply want him to do his job. They are seeing this as what it is. A personal attack born of bitterness and anger.
