The bowl ban gave him Sterk the opportunity to cut it off clean, without blowback from the current players waiting to play their bowl game without their coach.
That could have been a PR nightmare. You had to wait until they were done playing for the season.
And you can't wait until after the bowl game to fire, you'll miss out.
The bowl ban was the nail in the coffin for Barry, and he had nothing to do with the ban.
As soon as the ban was announced, contact was made to interested parties.
