spread through war from its inception and it is an integral part of their teaching.

He compares the first 300 years of Christianity with that of Islam.

Christians were persecuted from the beginning but never went to war and had no insurrections... but they were fed to the lions, crucified, skinned alive and lit on fire.

The Muslims, on the other hand, attacked city after city giving the residents the option of submitting to Islam or having their heads chopped off. They did rapidly spread their empire in that way, of course.
