sitting in this order: mother-in-law, sister-in-law, wife, me, our son. I don't exactly recall what was said, but it was after the sermon during the music at the end, and my sister-in-law lost her ****. She started screaming at my wife, telling her she's a terrible person, etc. My mother-in-law grabbed her and pulled her out of the sanctuary and they left town rather than coming back to our house for dinner. Not that we would have let them come back. I haven't seen or talked to either one since. My wife has talked to her mother twice. Once, my mother-in-law called and asked my wife to apologize to her sister. Which was common. It's never the sister's fault, always my wife's. The next was when the county contacted my wife about my mother-in-law potentially getting her house condemned. My wife called her mom and tried to convince her to get help, IIRC.
My mother-in-law and sister-in-law have a co-dependent relationship. My sister-in-law has been married more times than I can count. Always gets ****ed and moves back in with my mother-in-law.
Mother-in-law is a full on hoarder. I haven't been in her house since before I married my wife, probably 1992. And it was a wreck even back then. Dogs, cats, rabbits. The place smells terrible. And every room stacked with boxes of ****. Kitchen unusable. And that was 25+ years ago.
