Look at the pagan cultures and the changes wrought in them

Most atheists today had Christian parents or at least ones who grew up in and were shaped by a Christian culture. They still have the vestiges of the morality a Judeo-Christian culture.
If one really followed the premises of atheism to its logical conclusion there would really be no objective morality. It would all be a matter of doing whatever you want and what each individual feels is in his or her own best interest at any given moment in time.
Nietzsche's idea of an ubermensch, or superman would be logical in such a (lack of) moral framework. It is all about a will to power. Being "nice" is a weakness that holds men and society back. He had an influence on Adolph Hitler, of course.
