confirmation bias where everyone the deal with on a daily basis thinks exactly as they do so they assume that everyone else does too. And anyone who does not is just stupid or evil.
One of the consequences of the death of print media that no one really thinks about is that the flyover States no longer have a voice. All of our media now cones from the NY-DC corridor and LA. Not too long ago they were the dominant voices but there were hundreds of local papers giving their own take on things. I was a twenty-five-year subscriber to the KC Star and simply canceled about a decade ago. Since then I might read a story a month if it pops up on a news feed. I could not name an editorial writer on their staff anymore. There were never many conservative voices in the media but now there are almost none.
