of understanding of how language works. I've never seen anyone make such a characterization, but if such an instance exists that is simply an example of someone misapplying a term.
Deplorable means deserving strong condemnation, it comes from the French word déplorer meaning "to give up as hopeless," meaning something is so bad there is no hope of improvement.
It has nothing to do with occupation.
