Both schools he took flyers on guys that started at the back of the roster. He obviously believes in that strategy.
More important to me are the players that you expect to be at the top of the rotation. If you look at the next 2 seasons the only potential hole is at the 5. Kalkbrenner is the only big that I thought could step in and play right away.
