I was for hiring Martin on the basketball team. I was NEVER in favor of hiring a true son. It backfired on basketball and football.
I think there is ONE thing some the really dumb Mizzou fans are missing...
We can't go around with this theory that if we hire the next big thing we're merely a stepping stone to a better job. If you take that approach you will never win a national championship.
Why can't Mizzou be the next Alabama? Mizzou is a bigger state than Alabama. The reason is Alabama has built a tradition, we need to start building our own confidence that we can be a top program.
How did Baylor all of a sudden become a top program? Baylor was the doormat of football for decades. Boise State somehow they're in the mix every year how did that happen? Clemson was never a traditional powerhouse. Oregon built this new facility then boom now they're a top program... but never prior were they considered anything but a team USC and UCLA play.
Mizzou can build a tradition but you have to STOP thinking we're a stepping stone. GO AFTER the best guy and see what happens. Pinkel could have left several times but he stayed.
STOP THINKING SMALL and start THINKING WIN!
