A: Typically, nothing happens.....

Facts to back up the answer:
An estimated 466,000 people failed to pay taxes in 2017

The IRS initiated only 2,886 cases for criminal prosecution (0.61% of those who failed to pay taxes)...

There were only 584 convictions (0.125% of those who failed to pay taxes) for tax fraud that year....
