January 2018, Johnson said that he had an informant with information that the FBI and Department of Justice had conspired against Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election; Johnson described it as a "secret society" and said that there was "corruption at the highest levels of the FBI".[31] The same day, he walked back the comments.[32]
