247's final rankings had him in the mid-40s, and I'd say he's played about how a mid-40s prospect should play. Some do much better. Some do much worse. But there really shouldn't be too many complaints with his overall production.
For comparison, he was ranked one spot below Ira Lee, a post player who signed with Arizona. Lee averaged 6.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 17.8 minutes per game last year and 2 points and 4 rebounds in 19 minutes in Arizona's opener vs. Northern Arizona.
For further comparison, Tilmon was ranked spot higher than Silvio De Sousa, who had a mediocre freshman season, sat all last year, and played just 7 minutes for kansas in their opener.
I would bet a review of the larger pool of players ranked in the 40-60 range would turn up similar results. Lots of guys worse than Tilmon. A handful better. A lot about the same.
