... although I pretty much agree with your premise. This year we have Georgia-Florida back-to-back. Always tough. 2009 we had Neb-Ost-Texas and Texas went to the National Championship that year. Rest of the schedule was very favorable.
The biggest difference is 2009 was a reloading year. We lost Daniel and Maclin, Spoon, Mo, Coffman and all the other greats from that 07-08 run.
We started over with new players, still went 8-4 and that one rain slop game against Nebraska was what stood in the way of a division title and a third straight appearance in the Big 12 title game.
That's sorta my problem with Odom right now.
He is going 8-4 with the teams that are experienced enough and with schedules that are favorable to 11-1 seasons.
Gabbert, Franklin, Mauk all took over very transitioned teams that were reloading lots of players when they stepped into permanent starting roles in 2009, 2011 and 2014.
They won 8, 8 and 10 respectively with teams that didn't have tons of starting experience.
