he's run on, trade, immigration, foreign policy, there are videos of him from 20-30 years ago saying the same things.

You may disagree but at least on those issues he's been quite consistent and has his theories about it and plans to correct the mistakes of the past (in his view). Hardly going by the seat of his pants.
