MetroLink opened. I parked at UMSL and took the train to the Cervantes Center each day. Stayed late as we'd hit dinner after the conferenece. Mike Shannon's one night and Tony's the next. Walked back to the MetroLink station and never felt unsafe.
Every train had an officer from some jurisdiction on it. One morning guy got on in a suit and said hi to the uniform riding the train. Figured he was a detective. We both got off at the Cervantes Center and he saw me put on my show credentials. Was curious what I thought of the MetroLink. He was the Director of Public Safety--retired STLPD and recruited into this position.
Pity MetroLink quit putting commissioned officers on the trains because they have turned to shìt.
Wouldn't ride one today on a bet.
