Guys like you don't want anyone to mess up their watching college football on Saturdays. It's all about you. If allowing the NCAA to continue to screw over the kids is what it takes to keep your Saturday football safe then that is okay with you.
The NCAA is just like any other powerful entity - it will always protect its schools' income and will only give any of it up if forced to by outside forces. It capitulated on paying money to players because the SEC forced them and they capitulated on a player receiving compensation for his likeness because California forced them.
This story has been told over and over in America and around the world. Employers underpaid employees in the early 1900s until unions started up and forced them to pay up. After the American Revolutionary War, Lafayette wrote a letter to George Washington telling him he needed to free the slaves. Washington agreed in theory but contended who would get the crops out of the field if they freed the slaves. Self-interest is always an excuse not to do the right thing. Maybe you should start playing bridge on Saturday afternoons.
