What is unethical about it?

If someone wants to hire you because of some perceived benefit on their part, what is unethical about that? What if they wanted someone from outside their world to give them a clean perspective on things?
I get the "appearance of impropriety" argument, but seriously, if getting hired for jobs that you're wholly unprepared for is unethical, then there's a lot of unethical managers running around this country at the present moment.
