was a 1st generation California Hispanic who went on to be a Superintendent at a park in Alaska.
My shift supervisors at the first police department I worked at were white, black, or female.
My wife's direct supervisor when she was a dispatcher was Hispanic and the Bureau Commander over Dispatch and the Records Division was also Hispanic. The first black officer at that department worked his way through the ranks and into supervision.
Perhaps the good old boy network is most common in the private sector, but I have been exposed to equal opportunity throughout my life.
