Unfortunately, Shep Smith brought this element to the FNC. His show blurred the line between opinion and news and I don't think he quite understood that. Other news hosts were more successful in maintaining the distinction. Shep should have vied for an evening opinion slot at FNC. They begin to run reruns at the 11:00 pm slot. Maybe, he could have taken that one from Tucker Carlson's rerun show.
