You should know the difference between a handle/username (must be unique) and a display-name (can be anything).
Also, @MizzouBasketball (16 characters) is too long for a Twitter handle due to the 15-character length limit. Thus, @MizzouHoops is the best option for Twitter, which went to the men's team contrary to what you thought.
However, the reason I said I agree with the premise of your argument is this...
While both the men's & women's display names can be "Mizzou Basketball" or "Mizzou Hoops" since there's no uniqueness restriction, I don't think they should be. The convention I see for other P5 schools is to put "Women's" or "W" in the display name to distinguish it from the men. Look at a few examples of other P5 WBB Twitter accounts (username | display-name):
• Florida: @GatorsWBK | Gators Women's Basketball
• Illinois: @IlliniWBB | Illinois W. Basketball
• Ohio State: @OhioStateWBB | Ohio State WBB
IMO, the Mizzou WBB account's display name should be "Mizzou Women's Basketball" similar to Florida (although I prefer the "WBB" acronym for the *username* over the "WBK" that Florida uses).
