First shooting victim I encountered was from the projects

in Como. Dude standing with friends outside Bryant Walkway got shot in a driveby. Not sure if it was drugs or if he was messin' with another man's woman.
Stop a vehicle reported speeding from the scene and it's home slice in the passenger seat being rushed to the Med Center by his buddy. Escorted them to the ER.
Afraid it was a drug related shooting and someone was going to come to the ER and finish the job, I got posted there until they moved him to surgery.
So he's on the table and in about a blink of an eye his clothes are cut off him. A doc gloves up and reaches into the exit wound on the front of his thigh to see if his femur is intact (it was). The bullet had entered in the back of his left thigh and blew out the front. After that, it hit his left thumb at the palm and that was hanging by flesh and a few tendons.
None of that bothered me and then this nurse shows up with a Foley catheter and starts threading this tube about as big around as a garden hose up his dick. I decided to wait outside.
Always wonder what ever happened to that guy.
He's given me a lifelong fear of Foley catheters.
And from Blazing Saddles...it's twue what they say about the way those men are "gifted".
