“Maguire keeps using the referral of the complaint about the President to DOJ for criminal investigation as a shield. Two things:
- criminal investigations are kept secret even from Congress
- no criminal investigation of the President can result in a prosecution, per DOJ policy”
I believe Maguire to be honorable but perhaps lacking in judgment. He was also only a few days into the job when this ICIG report hit his desk. Unfortunately, it took these steps by Schiff to bring this allegation against the President, Giuliani & Barr to light of day.
Although flawed, the system is working.
