I agree that there's been a shift left among the progressives. They've become angrier and (more?) intolerant of the diversity they claim to crave. Wouldn't diversity encompass diversity of thought and ideas about the ways to solve problems?
I also think there's a second shift, among the right. They've shifted the definitions of words like socialism and radical to include anyone who doesn't think like them. So now, if you're a moderate, you're really just a socialist who's afraid to say it. Um, no.
