After a revolution, purge of our military, 8 years of devastating war brought by the Arab and Western world through their proxy Saddam....only after ALL THAT, when the regime was by far at its weakest and on the verge of collapse in 1988 did you engage a few naval assets of Iran in the Persian gulf.
