I got one really big problem with a comment there.

"... protecting our country by building and supporting our allies".
So maybe you can tell me how the US will benefit, in ANY way, by keeping troops in the mideast, such as Afghan.
Do we have a moral obligation to "build" them up?
What would all that entail in any case?
Do we have a moral obligation to fight for them when their enemy is THEIR FELLOW MUSLIMS?
Could they keep it built if we actually did build it up?
Even if that effort produced SOME kind of benefit, how could it be greater than the hideous costs, in money and lives, that it takes from us?
Can we change their minds. of nearly 1000 years, which gives them a barbaric religion in a stone-age culture?
And so on. I don't expect you to attempt to answer, since there are no good answers to those simple questions. But surprise me and give it a shot anyway.
