If either were a cashier etc, (a job where the skills can be easily replaced) the results would be different. But sense they are paid millions of dollars for a special skill, exceptions are made.

It's called the free market. Both teams decided it was worth it to keep them. If either had done something that they felt would've been too much and effected the bottom line, they would've cut them. In both cases, the money on their contracts were the deciding factor in why they stuck around. AB just signed his this summer I believe.
